Winter makes its first advance on the deep Ouray valley as witnessed from my Twin Peaks perch. The cold cloudless sky breaks for the sun, holding off the next winter storm, while town shrugs off the latest snow fall. The cold air stings my nose. I contemplate the Million Dollar Highway\u2019s improbably route out of the valley and south through the Uncompahgre Gorge.
